Everyday holds wonderful manifestations of God's love. He teaches me lessons through my children and the journey of life. I found out that one just has to open their eyes and start looking at the mundane in a creative way.

Adoni
Dija Henry

Still plugging away at my bible study and I'm loving it! I just completed "Adoni" which means Lord and Master. This was a very challenging study and took me 2 weeks to complete. Mostly because it made me think so hard. What would you expect of a master? If you give your life to your master you would expect him to take care of all of your needs, protect you, care for you correct? That's what we can expect when we choose Christ as our master. I know "master" is a word we do not use much these days in a positive way but we all choose a master in this world whether we like it or not. It could be politics, influence, money, material things, celebrities-who/what is your master?

We looked at one particular scripture two times during the study and by the second time and (20 years of reading this scripture) that something new hit me in the heart pretty hard:

Matthew 7:24-27 (New International Version)

The Wise and Foolish Builders

24"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."

House on the rock

Did you notice that BOTH builders experienced the rain, the floods, and the winds? Both of them experienced the wind beating against their homes? The scripture does not even say what materials the builders used (straw, bricks, or clay). It was WHERE they built their houses that made a difference. That is the only choice the person made. JESUS is the ROCK and HE is the only one that kept the house from falling. I used to think that I could avoid the winds and the rain by what I did or didn't do. But as I have lived I see that winds, and floods, and rain fall on all of us but the ONLY thing that has kept us standing is that we built our foundation on JESUS.

This humbled me. There are things required of us to make Jesus our Master and Lord of our lives but it is only Him who keeps us from crashing during life's storms.

Thanks for reading! By the way-we just came back from the Lake this weekend and it was a blessed time with family! I have a bunch of video and pics to get through and I can't wait to blog about it! Stay tuned!
