Inspire(d) Blog

Everyday holds wonderful manifestations of God's love. He teaches me lessons through my children and the journey of life. I found out that one just has to open their eyes and start looking at the mundane in a creative way.

bible in one year

Let me start out by saying: YAY! My blog is fixed!

So I've started the reading plan for reading the bible in a year. I'm so nervous about even telling people about this because as many of you know-it's easy to make a resolution and easy to break a resolution! I really want to stay on track this year because I've never read through the entire bible in a year before! I am currently doing the old testament in the morning and the new testament in the evening. I like this reading plan because you get to simultaneously read about the coming of the Lord Jesus and the time when the prophesies were fulfilled.

I just finished reading about the Abrahamic covenant this morning. What I've learned is the depravity of humans. Some humans rebelled against God and some wanted God to touch their lives. I was especially saddened for some reason this time when reading about Cain murdering his brother, Abel, out of jealousy. I wondered what kind of main Abel was to choose the sacrifice pleasing to the Lord. I wondered at the sadness of Eve knowing her son had murdered her other son. And the fact that a murder had occurred literally in the 2nd generation of creation! This just screamed to me the NEED for redemption. The need for God to indwell us with the Holy Spirit for without God we quickly can do those awful things. Jesus even called hatred for your brother murder in the new testament.

It's amazing how the Bible comes alive in new ways to me  every time I read it. It is God's living Word in every way. God is the same but I am the one who changes and grows (hopefully) and he show's me new things through His Word. I think the theme (for me anyway.) is the human-ness of those in the bible that are part of the promise of Christ. None of us are special or do anything worthy of God's salvation- except that by God's grace He did all of the work in saving us.

Hope you all are enjoying the snow!
