Everyday holds wonderful manifestations of God's love. He teaches me lessons through my children and the journey of life. I found out that one just has to open their eyes and start looking at the mundane in a creative way.

Getting over fear
Dija Henry

Trying something new is can be very exciting and a little bit scary at the same time. Especially if it's something you feel compelled to do. For me, I feel compelled to share what God has put inside of me through peforming arts.

Maybe you are sitting there thinking of a dream that you've had for a long time, something that you are just waiting for the right time to do. Maybe it's not the timing, but the courage that you are waiting for. I have prayed this prayer several times in my life: "Lord, help me to hear when you speak and give me the courage to do what you say."

There are other things that I am contemplating changing in my life but many times it leaves me so anxious my stomach starts churning away at 70 mph. The problem is that my brain starts doing the same thing...in the opposite direction. One says "stop! danger!" the other says "Great Idea! I can see the possibilities!"

I've been reading Nehemiah and recently Moses's call to lead God's people out of Egypt. Although I've heard/read the story many times it dawned on me that at one time, Moses was just as afraid as any of us before a daunting task. Moses says an interesting thing after God shows him miraculous signs. Moses says:

"O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue."

Exodus 4:10

Doesn't that sound like us? God does many wonderful and miraculous things in our lives and we STILL doubt Him when He calls us to do something? But I love what the Lord says next to Moses:

The LORD said to him, "Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the LORD ? 12 Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say."

For Moses, it was his speech that he was not confident of, for some people it's their looks, or where they came from, or their lack of education, or lack of "street cred" that makes them afraid of doing what God is asking them to do. But isn't that so like God? To take what we are most scared of and turn it into our greatest victory all for His glory? If you don't know the rest of this story Moses goes on to lead over a million people out of a land where God's people were slaves for over 4 centuries! Moses talked to God face to face, received the law directly from God's finger, and saw many more wonderous signs by God. The bible says in 34:10

There has never been another prophet in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face.

God takes ordinary individuals like you,me, and Moses and does extra-ordinary things if we let Him. Don't be afraid-you never know what adventure God wants to take you on!

How beautiful. Yes God actually uses the ones who don't think they can do anything. It is just we see the after effect and we think they had no doubt/fear. Keep writing.
