I've been reading through the bible again this year in hopes of actually reading it all the way through and getting my certificate at church at the New Year's eve service! But more importantly to really get into the word deeper and grow closer to the Lord. I just finished reading up to when Moses was giving the ten commandments and Aaron and his sons were being consecrated for their work as the high priests of the temple which was going to be the earthly dwelling place of God.
It's funny as you grow and read the same scriptures over they seem to have different meanings on a personal level although they are the same contextually.

I was really struck when I read what the Israelites did while Moses was on top of the mountain getting the instructions from God. God was busy telling Moses about the awesome position he had planned for Aaron and the Israelites to be God's chosen people and they were down on the ground committing all kinds of sin and worshipping idols. They were to be part of the remnant that would give birth to the savior of the world and have a huge part in human history and they were on the ground wallowing in the yuckiness of sin without the knowledge of what God had planned! Most of all I was saddened because Aaron was to be the high priest of the most high God and he was playing priest to a chunk of gold all because they were impatient.

Now I'm not saying that I'm any better by any means. The Israelites had a lot to learn and had to be purged of the culture they grew up in. But I am saying that I can act the same way sometimes. In the past I did not behave like a daughter of the king even though I was. I was out clubbing, partying, dating the wrong people...and doing the things that come along with a college lifestyle. Even after I left college I would be impatient with my current charge of raising a family and dreaming of pursuing other things. Little did I know of the plans God had for me! He has something wonderful and beautiful planned for His children but we need to trust and be patient that He is working out the details for us. See when Aaron finally took his place as high priest God had already taken care of the building (which required over 1 ton of gold, 3.75 tons of silver, plus yards and yards of material and dyes), the labor (skillful workers), the rules (putting together the systems analysis), providing his income (the tithes), food and shelter as well as provisions for his entire family! Aaron didn't have to do anything but repent after he sinned! God is good, ain't He? :)

Today if you are waiting as a child of God to walk into your destiny know that you are already living it as a child of the most high God! Trust Him, be patient and don't let anyone talk you into worshipping a stupid chunk of gold because what God has is soo much better!
