Last night we had family night. I made a new recipe-stuffed shells...well new for me and it turned out great. The kids loved it! We made s'mores and watched The Chronicles of Narnia. I'm always moved by the film every time I watch it. I remember discovering C.S Lewis as a young child in elementary school. I literally stumbled upon the books. I loved being taken to another world, another place through the words on a page. C.S. Lewis was such a great writer that you could literally create the "movies" in your head.
Okay-back to the subject. As many of you know, the character of Aslan is the "Christ" character. Aslan gives his life in place of "the betrayer", Edmond, then raises himself from the dead, and goes on to win the battle against the White Witch, who is holding Narnia under her evil spell. During the battle scene when Aslan appears on the scene right when the White Witch is about to kill Peter, I realized something-this must be how God fights our battles for us. Aslan appeared on a rock behind Peter, the witch saw him, knowing his power her eyes widened in terror, Aslan leaps forcefully on her with a loud roar, knocks her to the ground and with one last look of impending death from the witch, Aslan finishes her off, saving Peter. Dramatic, right? :)
The bible says this:
1 Samuel 17:47
All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give all of you into our hands."
Maybe some of you have been fighting for a long time and not getting anywhere but to a little town called tired and frustrated . I know it's really hard to quit trusting in your own battle skills and trust God. God always has you right where He wants you. He will fight for you. I love the image at the FEROCITY in which Aslan fights for the one he cares about. For you parents out there, you know this feeling. If someone DARES to mess with your child, they're going DOWN! Right? Well you are God's child and He will fight for you. Yes there is work that we must do, and times we must suffer, but ultimately the battle is His and He will fight these immediate battles for you. But don't forget God has already won the war! I hope the clip inspires you!
Have an AWSOME weekend! This is a great oppurutnity to share the love of God during Halloween!
