The other day my son taught me very valuable lesson. Who knew wisdom could come from a two and a half year old? He loves to throw things in the air and he decided to through this little fireman hat flashlight up in the air. When it came down it scattered into three pieces. The top of the hat, the battery, and the bottom of the hat. Of course the "Mommy! Mommy! I broke it!" started up. Unfortunately, I was not in the position to help him as I had 3 pots going on the stove all at once while talking on the phone...don't you love multitasking? After I had settled the pots to simmer and ended my phone call I turned around to help my son but was surprised to see him running around like before with an intact flashlight yelling " I did it! I did it!". He was SO PROUD of himself! But the lesson came when he threw the flashlight up into the air and gleefully watched it come crashing down again. He did not whine or whimper this time but calmly picked up the pieces and put it together. He then moved on to his victory chant of "I did it! I did it!" This breaking, fixing, and victory chant went on several times before he found interest in some cartoons but I had learned a valuable lesson.

See I'm the kind of person that literally dreads when God puts me in check when I need to be redirected or taught a lesson. Why? You might be wondering. Well frankly, because sometimes it hurts. It's not easy to be put in check. You get humbled and that's not natural for us human creatures. But the problem is I can get so afraid that I don't want to move forward or take a chance on something. But watching my son made me realize that once you get over your fear the first time something breaks because you took a chance and throw something up in the air, you can be victorious. You grow and learn and almost welcome the breakage of something because after that you will be better...because God wants you to grow and better...for Him. In Romans it says that all things work together for good to them that love the Lord and are called according to His purposes. That means whatever happens good or bad it will work out for your good...if you love the Lord.

Now I look at challenges in a different light. The world is not going to blow up if things fall apart. God will help me to pick up the pieces and He will put things back together again. And in the end we who follow and trust Him will get to make the victory chant "HE did it! HE did it!"
