Inspire(d) Blog

Everyday holds wonderful manifestations of God's love. He teaches me lessons through my children and the journey of life. I found out that one just has to open their eyes and start looking at the mundane in a creative way.

Loads of Laundry
Dija Henry

Another day, another load...of laundry that is. Laundry is the one household chore that NEVER seems to get done! The most my laundry room has been clear is approximately 13 minutes (a new record, right?). I was all finished everything was washed, no piles on the floor or in the washer and dryer-sigh of relief! Then I found a stash of dirty clothes stuffed under a table in my kids play room! What can I expect when I ask a 3 and 5 year old to pick up the play room! HA! So after 13 minutes of laudryless bliss I returned to sorting, washing, drying and put away. YAY! (not really). I realize that I CAN take a break if I want to from laundry-enjoy a day or two of not wrestling with dirty undies and wet towels resulting in even more frustration. OR I can do a little everyday and keep things in maintainance check and thus have less dirty undies and wet towels to wrestle with.

It's much like this in the laudry room of my mind. Old "dirty laundry" will surprisingly (are you really surprised, Dija?) rear it's ugly head. Past sins committed, negative thoughts, complaints (about laundry especially), and fear will flood my mind throughout the day. I constantly need to "check myself before I wreck myself" and ask the Lord to sort, wash, dry and put away all that old dirty laundry-FOREVER. This is an every day cleansing. To renew my mind, constantly stay in prayer and remember that Jesus ultimately cleansed my heart and my mind when He shed is blood 2000 years ago. However, I so grateful the Holy Spirit is here with us now to do a maintanince check everyday.

Philippians 4:8 (New Living Translation) "And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise."

Dija, you made my day today with this beautiful post. I found you through Heather's blog, www.maternalspark.com. I constantly need to be reminded to renew my mind and to "check myself before I wreck myself". Being a stay at home mom while also running a business from home can be quite isolating and lonely and this is when the negative thoughts do creep in. Thank you so much for this reminder. I will definitely follow your blog. You can peek at mine (I am horrible at updating it but want to get better, www.nelesc.blogspot.com. God bless you.
