Everyday holds wonderful manifestations of God's love. He teaches me lessons through my children and the journey of life. I found out that one just has to open their eyes and start looking at the mundane in a creative way.

On a trip
Dija Henry

I'm on a trip. Both physically-I'm visiting family in Ohio, and spiritually. On the way to Ohio I was praying-kind of. You know that place where you're heart just throws out tendrils of hope and wonderment? I mean you don't have the words to pray but you just know that you need an answer and the problem is that you don't even know the question to ask? That's how I felt on the drive. But in the midst of spiraling into the thoughts about all the world suffering and wondering "why?" I began to notice something.  I looked up and saw all these old fashion telephone poles along the green countryside. Simple wooden poles, you know, the ones that look like old trees without the leaves? They looked like crosses. Crosses like what Jesus was crucified on. I know it seems random but when you see something that has to do with what you were thinking about that precise moment is when things seem a little more profound. Like God was saying, "I'm here in the midst of your trials, in the midst of this hurting world. I'm here..."

God says that he will never leave us or forsake us. He said it to Moses and He said it to his assistant Joshua over and over again.

My father said something profound to me last night when we were talking. I wanted to share with him some of my goals and he said "Dija, what are your internal/spiritual goals?" He shared with me how one of Ghandi's second generation disciples used to visit his family in India and how one comment about ironing clothes changed one of his internal views on essentially outward appearances. My father said that working on the internal goals will help your external goals. Some of you may be saying "duh!" But I think I lost sight of this obvious lesson. So my next posts are going to be exploring some of these goals. I'm pretty sure I'll be trying to achieve these goals for the rest of my life but my new motto is "why the heck not?"

1. To be joyful (The joy of the Lord is my strength)

2. To REALLY live in God's freedom and change my thinking about "the rules of life".

3. To not be moved (faithwise) even when circumstances change

4. To be intamite with God.

I hope you stay tuned as I explore. PLEASE share your internal/spiritual goals. We can inspire each other!
