If you've read my past blogs this week (Walking on Water and Haiti's Tragedy a Life Lesson) you know that I was inspired to write about two main themes: encouraging us to keep our eyes on Jesus during storms in life, refocus our eyes on Jesus if we sink into distractions, and acknowledging that some storms of life are allowed by God out of love so we can be closer to Him. Little did I know that a few days later I would be reminded of the words that I wrote to encourage others. Wednesday night I had to take my son to the hospital for an anaphylactic reaction to fish. If you don't know what an anaphylactic reaction is you can check out www.epipen.com for more information. This is a very severe allergic reaction that if goes untreated can lead to unconsciousness or death. I was so shocked to find out that my son was allergic to fish seeing as though my parents come from countries where fish is a staple. It was so scary. I found myself back at Riley's Children's hospital via ambulance watching my son get poked time after time to get much needed fluids and medicine to take down the swelling. I know that many of you have seen loved ones or children in the hospital and it is challenging. The combination of worry, having to trust someone else with your loved one and feeling out of control can easily cause a panic attack. In the midst of all of this I felt the Holy Spirit reminding me of what was in God's word:
Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

I was reminded to trust God's sovereignty like Job, keep my eyes on Jesus not the "what ifs" swirling through my head, and take an opportunity to react differently! Wow! God is so gracious in even laying these things on my heart to write about and all the while He knew I would need it. I left the hospital with a son who is back to normal, an epipen for emergencies, and something else I had been praying for: a consult with a nutritionist. I was able to meet with a nutritionist and talk specifically about my children's allergies and how to avoid dangerous foods as well as make sure they get their needed nutrition. What a hidden blessing! I had been searching on my own for so many years and through these emergency situations with my children God has brought much needed medical help. Although it's difficult at times to walk through these storms He guides our life and always provides what we need just like He promised!
Philippians 4:19 And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
Look all around you and see how God is inspiring you and speaking to you!
