Wow. Sometimes life is quite boring and then there are these spurts of business! I am currently in a spurt of business. I have been busy working on several projects which have caused me not to be blogging for the last 11 days. I am currently working on a short video presentation for the Shlomit Clinic of Good Hope that my mother has been building in Jamaica, as well as helping a local resident with developing an audition video for Oprah's Contest: So you wanna be a talk show host, as well as being very involved with the Indy Christian Media Group. In addition to that I have two very under the weather children! But God is good and He provides strength every day. I am excited for what the Lord is showing me these days. I am so grateful for the privilige to serve our great God.
I wanted to share with you the article that I wrote for my mother's project in Jamaica and share an opportunity with you to get involved with missionary her work. You can find out more information at christislordministries.org.
From the desk of Executive Director Salome Pathak, M.Div.

Salome Pathak recently returned from a 2 month stay in Jamaica, Good Hope District to work on construction of the medical clinic. She has been building towards her vision of providing basic medical care and wellness education to the local residents for many years. Salome Pathak's father was a pastor in Good Hope for over 60 years and has been a foundation in the community for many years. Salome would like to continue that spirit of giving and community care through the clinic.

After pushing forward with construction for several weeks she was able to open “Shlomit Clinic of Good Hope” to the public on May 6th, 2010 to bring awareness about what she is doing. Many local residents came to the clinic to take advantage of the free blood pressure and glucose screening as well as free diabetic foot screenings and wellness classes.

The residents of Good Hope are supportive and excited for “Shlomit Clinic of Good Hope” to be available to them. "It has been a long awaited event" said one local resident who attended the opening. There is a great need for local residents to be able to get medical care and be able to monitor their blood pressure and blood sugar levels consistantly since many suffer from hypertension and diabetes in the area. Dental, eye, and geriatric care are areas in which Salome hopes to address as well in the near future.

Salome has been able to partner with two local pastors in the community. Together they were able to bring more resources together for the opening day as well as debrief after the event to see what the next steps should be to help the clinic be a success.

Right now there are small apartment units that are attached to the clinic and available for medical teams to stay and volunteer at the clinic. The cost is $35.00 US per night and $210.00 US per week. The cost is to cover electricity and water for the apartments. Any donation amounts are welcome including medical supplies or medical equipment. Please contact Rev. Salome Pathak through email for more information on donating to the clinic.
