Sometimes a break is something you take and sometimes it's something forced on you. I am currently experiencing the latter in reference to a play I wrote and was planning on directing this summer. Everything was ready to go and then a few weeks into rehearsals I lose my lead actor which brought the missing actor count up to 8. "But that's okay" I said to myself after I finished banging my head on the window. Just kidding! I had to come to the real understanding that this is God's play, not mine. So instead I'm asking "Lord, show me what you want me to do now." I've had to make a hard desicion to wait another year to put on this production but here are few good things that have come out of this "break":
1.) re-evaluate how to find committed actors so this won't happen again
2.) What is it that I really want to accomplish with ministry?
3.) What are my long term goals for this play?
4.) New ideas about doing theater ministry
I would never have thought up new ideas and new ways to overcome challenges if things didn't happen the way they did. God is so merciful in allowing things to happen or forcing us to take breakes so we can stop and listen to what He's saying to us. So if you're going through a break that you really didn't plan on taking but are being "forced" to take think of it as an oppurtunity to prick your ears and listen to God's voice. You will get to hear things you wouldn't have been able to hear before and hopefully bring clarity to your situation.
