Everyday holds wonderful manifestations of God's love. He teaches me lessons through my children and the journey of life. I found out that one just has to open their eyes and start looking at the mundane in a creative way.

The name of the Lord is a Strong Tower
Dija Henry

"Hey Dija! Where ya been?" you might be asking...or not! :) So after my last post about spritual goals my dad suggested #4 become #1 (Intamicy with God). Well God took care of that! No sooner than I was thinking that a personal bible study would be great than a friend from church who is over our Titus 2 ministry (older women mentoring younger women) offered to do a bible study with me.

I've been doing a study called: Lord I Want to Know you by Kay Arthur. It's been amazing! The first week was looking at

Proverbs 18:10

10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower;
       the righteous run to it and are safe.

I have been meditating on this scripture for a few weeks and it's really helped me. It will pop into my mind whenever I start getting worried about things. Specifically our quest for affordable health insurance or the kids or bills or the car's flashing "check the engine" light...you get the picture. But I remember the name of the Lord is a strong tower. When I think about a strong tower, I think about the Lord of the Rings the Return of the King when the elves are standing on top of that HUGE fortress right before the last battle! And God is much bigger than that. The armies would keep their people safe in the tower.

Kay Arthur argues that Christians just don't know God like they should and therefore they can't boast in the Lord. I have to admit that that is where I've been lacking. You boast in something you know really well-not something you kind of know...you know? I desire that intamicy with God but I haven't spent the time to get to know HIM. This study has been a great guide that delves into the names of God through His Word. And what better way to get to know Him than His word and meditation on it? I've had the most peace about my life than I can remember in years already. I am looking forward to sharing with you the next chapters!

Remember that the name of the Lord is a strong tower the next time you get worried or afraid. The righteous run into it and are safe.

Please post a comment about how you are experiencing God's name as Strong Tower!
