Inspire(d) Blog

Everyday holds wonderful manifestations of God's love. He teaches me lessons through my children and the journey of life. I found out that one just has to open their eyes and start looking at the mundane in a creative way.

Trust the Lord

Today after church we went to one of my favorite spots in the city-The Taste Cafe and  Marketplace in Broadripple. It was so great. I always enjoy a meal there. The food is delicious and all of the ingredients are fresh and the food is prepared so beautifully. My idea for the blog came while were parking to get into the cafe.

If you are familiar with the weather in the Midwest, you know that it has been snowing  a lot the past week. Now it's in that slushy, compacted mode, while it slowly melts and the sun graces us with it's presence again after weeks of being absent. (Thank you Jesus!) Well my husband was attempting to parallel park and I was blabbing away about something not meaning to distract my husband as he tried to get our van into a relatively small space over some compacted snow. (We really wanted this space in front of the cafe especially with three kids in tow). Well he didn't get it in the first time and I said "Wow-I've NEVER seen you fail at any maneuver with the car." I said this jokingly KNOWING full well that my husband would succeed because he has never failed to surprise me with impossible 3 point turns, parallel parking, Chicago driving, you name it! My husband can handle it. I had 100% confidence that that spot was ours for the taking even though uncaring cars swerved past us on the street, or impacted snow hid the curb and threatened to leave our tires spinning. All the while it made me think "Do I trust God like that? Do I trust God 100% to take me where I need to go and to help me maneuver through the obstacles in life?" Sadly, I don't always act like that.

God is sovereign, He created this entire Universe (Genesis 1), and He knows all things. So why on earth can I trust my human husband to park this car and I seem to waiver in my trust for God? I think it's a faith thing. I need to look back in my life and remember all the times that God handled things 100% of the time. He came through, He was glorified and He orchestrated every circumstance perfectly. Not how I wanted things, grant you, but how HE wanted things. I need to continue to know Him more intimately through bible study, prayer, worship to grow in faith and grow in trust. This past year has been the hardest and most amazing year of my life thus far. He has been 100% faithful in the hard days and also the blessed days. I felt challenged today to unabashedly trust my Lord to handle driving all parts of my life. I need Him to-I can't see past the compacted snow, impeding raging storms, and cloudy days but He can. Is there something today that is weighing on your heart? Trust God to handle all things. He doesn't need to try a second time to get the parking right, he's not even distracted if you blab your heart out to Him in the process. He can handle it ALL at the SAME TIME! So rejoice and take heart.

Psalm 27:13-14

I am still confident of this:
       I will see the goodness of the LORD
       in the land of the living.

 Wait for the LORD;
       be strong and take heart
       and wait for the LORD.

BTW my husband did succeed in parking the car the second time and continue is record of champion car maneuvering!!
